Who says Trays cannot be turned into art? Turn your ordinary tray into a centerpiece with this DIY.
Create this DIY using Fevicryl Mouldit and Fevicryl Acrylic Colours.
STEP 1 : Source the base material
- Take a plywood base measuring 12” x 12” in size, we have taken the ply from leftover pieces of the furniture.
- Paint it with a base coat of Acrylic Colour Black 02. Let it dry.
- We are going to make a tray wall décor using plywood as the base and Mouldit to create motifs.
STEP 2 : Prepare the dough
- Take Mouldit resin and hardener, mix well to make even dough.
- Take the dough, roll it to make thick slabs with rolling pin.
- Mark and cut 1” broad strips from the slab, let the strips get semi dry.
- Divide the plywood base by making walls with the Mouldit dough.
- Stick the strips on the plywood to make the compartments using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Build the motif
- Take the clay to build the motifs like rooster, elephants, snails, penguins, trees, moons using clay carving tools and Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
- Stick these motifs aesthetically along with the background using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Paint the elements
- Paint the tray décor with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, Black 02, Dark Green 06, Turquoise Blue 22, White 27, Teal Blue 68, Pearl Metallic Gold 352 and Bronze 355.
- Let it dry completely.
STEP 5 : Final look
- Attach metal hooks from the rear side using a little amount of dough and Fabric Glue. Let it dry completely.
