A tote bag with that is fun to make and once ready pretty to flaunt. The bag has threadwork along with fabric patchwork, making it unique and setting it apart from the usual shop bought accessories. This technique can be imbibed on larger bags, garments, dupattas and stoles too.

STEP 1 : Source the base

Take a plain tote bag.

Choose a pattern that would be suitable for threadwork. Draw and trace it on the tote bag using yellow carbon paper.

STEP 3 : Start sticking the thread

Following the pattern, start sticking the cobbler thread using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.

STEP 4

The threadwork once completed, the bag would look like this.

STEP 5 : Creating the fabric patchwork for the bag

Take a red cotton fabric and cut circles measuring 3 – 3.5” in diameter using a pair of scissors. Cut six such circles. These would be stuck on the bag in coordination with the threadwork pattern.

STEP 6 : Shaping the fabric circles

Give the circles, triangular sharp cuts all along the border.

STEP 7

Similarly cut 1” diameter circles from dark red fabric. Stick the fabric circles in between the threadwork pattern using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 8 : Final touches

Paint a small floral motif in the centre of the circle using Fevicryl Fabric Colour – White 227. This completes the bag.
