The magic of still life paintings is to view the ordinary objects placed into a specific arrangement and then captured in a painting or any other medium, the objects take on a whole new meaning. Here we have tried using clay objects with mixed media in still life.
Take any flat surfaced glass bottle.
Paste tissue paper to create the rough texture on the bottle using Fabric Glue and a little amount of water. Let it dry.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – Resin base & hardener, mix well to make an even soft dough. Take the dough, roll it to make the medium thick slab with rolling pin.
Make various shaped clay pots with the help of the clay carving tools. Let it dry completely (You can also take out the mould if you have any small pots around).
Take a gauze bandage and stick to make the backdrop for the still life arrangement using Fabric Glue. Similarly take the clay slab to make the base effect of the fabric using clay carving tools and Fabric Glue for sticking. Take some clay to give the brick wall effect around. Stick and arrange the pots aesthetically on the bottle using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Let it dry. Refer to the image.
Paint the base coat giving a watery wash effect using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02. Let it dry.
Paint the second coat with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Burnt Sienna 01, White 27 and Salmon Pink 65 Let it dry.
Paint with a touch of dry gold strokes using Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Place small dry twigs or the small grass flowers in the pot.
Your bottle with the still life arrangement will look like this.
