Pooja Thali With Lippan

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27, Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Used Melamine Plate, Talcum Powder, Silver Ball Chain, Assorted Mirrors, Assorted Ornamental Stones(White Colour), Colour Palette, Water Container

Traditional Lippan art with a twist making it so attractive and pretty. We have made this Pooja thali for Navratri this season with mirrors, ball chain and stones.

STEP 1 : Source the base

We are going to make the pooja thali for the festival of Navaratri inspired from the traditional Lippan art using an old melamine plate, Mouldit, mirrors, ball chain and stones. Take a used melamine plate to upcycle.

STEP 2 : Paint the base coat

Paint the base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27 by adding some talcum powder in the colour. Let it dry.

STEP 3 : Mirror work on plate

Stick the big mirror in the centre of the plate with fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 4 : Prepare the dough to create design

Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough. Take some clay, roll it to make a slab, cut a ring and place it in the center of the plate around the mirror and stick it with Fabric Glue. Create impression on the clay with clay carving tools. Stick and build the mandala design using silver ball chain and white ornamental stones with Fabric Glue. Let it dry. Refer to the image.

STEP 5 : Building the mandala design gradually

Build the mandala design gradually using rings of clay, ball chain, mirrors and stones with the help of the clay carving tools and Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 6 : Finishing of design

Your mandala design on the plate will look like this. Refer to the image.
