Navratri the season for all things colourful and vibes that are filled with fun and grandeur. Here is a necklace that we have made with resplendent shades and hues. A great DIY that you can make and customise it perfectly with your outfits for Navra
Take paper canvas and cut it into a crescent moon shape, make two such forms. Stick them back-to-back with Fevicryl Fabric Glue so that it is firm and sturdy.
Take colourful paper threads & woolen strands and stick them close to each other, filling the crescent shape completely. Use Fevicryl Fabric Glue for sticking.
Leave some gap towards the base & top curvatures for pom-poms to be sandwiched in between later.
Cut off any excess thread strands to get a good and even finish.
Once the threads are stuck the base of the necklace would look like this.
Take the colourful woolen threads and make a few pom-poms with extra threads towards each end to fasten onto the necklace later.
Take the pom-poms and start sticking them on the two curvatures using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.
Roll the dough to make a medium thick slab using a rolling pin.
Mark & cut a square from the clay slab to make small ornate enhancements on the neck piece. Use a paper cutter / clay carving tools for ease.
Take some clay and by the coiling technique make an ornate pattern on the square base of the pendant. Stick using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
Create around four clay ornate pieces for the necklace.
Start painting the clay elements in an antiquated silver effect using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02 & Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic - Silver 351. This would give it an oxidised look. Enhance the centre.
Place and stick the ornate clay pieces on the base of the necklace using Fevicryl Fabric Glue, just like you see in the image.
Stitch the jewellery thread / cord to the two ends of the necklace. Your stunning Navratri neckpiece is now ready to be worn.
