A very interesting DIY for the festival of lights made with Fevicryl Mouldit and Aluminum plate. Use of glass colours and metallic shades to give a festive look and an ornate look to the design. We have used a very simple base which makes it rather different.
We are going to make the diya holder using Aluminum plate and Mouldit. Take the Aluminum plate measuring 8” diameter.
Paint the plate with the base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27. Let it dry. Take A4 white paper, draw the jail design in the size of the plate on it. Trace the same design on the plate with yellow carbon paper. Refer to the image.
Paint the outline with Fevicryl 3 D Outliner Bronze 355. Let it dry.
Paint the design with Water Based Glass Colours Pink, Sky Blue, Ultramarine Blue and Green. Let it dry completely.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.
Take the dough, roll it to make the medium thin slab with rolling pin.
Take the rolled slab, mark and cut the Prabhavali shape out of the slab. Take some clay and shape them into tiny rounds, teardrop and coiled shapes. Start sticking them to create the ornamental design on the Prabhavali using Fabric Glue. Give texture wherever needed using clay carving tools. Refer to the image for the finer nuances. Let it dry.
Take the clay to make the holder for the plate and the tealite using paper cutter and clay carving tools. Refer to the image. Let the base dry completely.
Paint the prabhavali design and the base with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Bronze 355. Let it dry completely. Place the painted plate in the holder. Refer to the image.
Enhance the jail design on the plate by sticking assorted mirrors using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
