You Will Need:

Transform waste materials into a beautiful plank for an idol, perfect for Ganesha festival. This mixed media project uses Mouldit, Acrylic Colours, and a scrap soap dispenser bottle to create unique and festive wall decor.
STEP 1 : Procure the Base and Paint the basecoat
- We are going to make wall decor for the Ganesh Festival using waste material and Mouldit.
- Take a wooden plank as the base, measuring 4” x 12”.
- Paint the plank with a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27. Let it dry.
- Pierce two holes on the top side of the plank for hanging.
STEP 2 : Make Stencil Design
- Take the floral stencil and place it on the plank.
- Pour Fevicryl 3D Outliner Blue 702 over the stencil and drag it using a thick card to create an embossed effect. Let it dry.
STEP 3
- Paint the stenciled plank with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Prussian Blue 19, White 27, and Cerulean Blue 32. Let it dry.
STEP 4 : Procure the Base
- We will make the asana (seat) for the idol using a scrap soap dispenser bottle.
- Take a plastic bottle with a flat bottom from the waste.
STEP 5 : Build the Clay Design
- Mix Mouldit resin and hardener to create an even dough.
- Roll the dough into a medium-thin slab using a rolling pin.
- Cover the plastic bottle with the slab using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
- Use clay carving tools to create a design on the bottle.
- Use the clay to build a flower design on the base of the bottle. Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Attach the Bottle Base
- Take the MDF flower cut-out (or create a flower with Mouldit).
- Paint the flower in a similar shade to the plank.
- Stick the MDF flower on the top side of the plank and the bottle towards the bottom side using clay and Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
STEP 7 : Finishing Touches and Final Look
- Create small flowers with clay and paint them with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Pearl Metallic Gold and Black 02. Let them dry.
- Stick the flower in the centre of the MDF flower cut-out with fabric glue. Let it dry.
- Place a metal idol (e.g., Ganesha idol) on the bottle base to decorate your wall. Refer to the image.
- Your plank with an idol is ready.
