Owl From Metal Grater

Description :

Make an Owl from scrap and waste material by upcycling it to a beautiful piece of art. Give your personal touch to up cycle waste things lying around your house and beauty the space around you.

STEP 1 : Source the base material

Take an old used metal grater with handle.

STEP 2 : Procure the waste material

We will need few things to build the owl shape from the scrap. Take any old containers lids, metal bolts and nuts for the same.

STEP 3 : Mark and cut the corrugated sheet

Take corrugated sheet, cut out the shapes to make the wings of the owl.

STEP 4 : Prepare the dough/ clay

Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.  

STEP 5 : Prepare the slab

Take the dough, roll it to make a medium thin slab with rolling pin.

STEP 6 : Building the owl

Take the clay and begin shaping the wings, eyes, legs, neck area, feather effect around the holes on the grater with the coils. Use clay carving tools or a paper cutter for ease. Stick the shapes we have made to build the owl using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 7 : Paint the basecoat

Paint the basecoat with a watery wash using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02. Wipe out the colour from the owl with a rough rag.

STEP 8 : Final painting

Paint the owl finally with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Ultramarine Blue 23, Cerulean Blue 32, Deep Brilliant Purple 64, Teal Blue 68, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Bronze 355, Metallic Powders Gold 08 and Copper 29. Let it dry completely.

STEP 9 : Look of owl from the side angle

Paint the sides too. You will look like this from the side angle.

STEP 10 : Final look

You have a beautiful art piece made from used grater, an idea nobody has thought about!!
