STEP 1 : Making skirt for the doll
Take an A3 sized thick printed card paper to make a doll. Fold the paper to make the conical shape, stick the ends using Fevicol MR. Let it dry completely. Make the spiral pattern on the cone using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.
STEP 2 : Painting the skirt using Acrylic Colours
Paint the spiral pattern using Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic - Gold 352. Leave it to dry.
STEP 3 : Making head of the doll
Take A4 sized white papers, tear the papers into small pieces. Add a little amout of water and Fevicol MR in it to make the papier mache. Mix the papier mache dough well. Take the dough, make a ball out of it. Stick the papier mache ball on the conical shape to depict the head of the doll using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry. Take few sea shells and stick them towards the bottom side of the conical shape with Fabric Blue to depict the frock of the doll.
STEP 4 : Decorating the doll
Take a dark pink satin ribbon. Take a needle and a thread, make the running stitches on one side border of the satin ribbon. Pull the thread from one side to create gathers on the ribbon. Tie the thread towards the neck line to depict the frills for the dress.
STEP 5 : Giving final touches to the doll
Paint the face and the hair using Acrylic Colours - Black 02 and Flesh Tint 30. Take a brown thin card paper, cut tiny fringes out of it. Stick the fringes on the head to depict curly hair for the doll using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry. Take the flower punch and punch light pink and light violet flowers out of the card papers. Stick the flowers in layers along with the round shaped half cut pearls on the frock of the doll using Fabric Glue.
STEP 6 : Making jute hats for the Doll
Take the jute yarn. Make the small sized hat out of it using Fabric Glue for sticking the jute yarn. Leave it to dry. Enhance the hat by sticking few layered punch craft flowers along with half cut pearls using Fabric Glue.
STEP 7 : Recreating another doll
Similarly, make another doll. Paint the features of the dolls with Acrylic Colours - Black and Crimson 04. Stick the teardrop shaped half cut pearl to depict the nose of the doll using Fabric Glue. Let it dry. Your mixed media dolls are ready. Mirrors:
STEP 8 : Making Mirror frame
Take an 8” x 8” sized MDF wooden frame.
STEP 9 : Painting the mirror frame
Take tissue paper. Stick the paper on the frame using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry. Paint the frame using Acrylic Colour Black 02 and Pearl Metallic - Gold 352. Let it dry.
STEP 10 : Decorating the mirror frame
Enhance the frame by sticking different materials like colourful wooden beads, buttons, plastic beads, shells, small pieces of toothpicks, readymade zardozi motifs, half cut pearls, readymade rose laces, ornamental stones and flower laces using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.
STEP 11 : Painting another mirror frame
Take a 6”x 8” sized MDF wooden frame. Paint the frame by creating a rough texture with a brush using Acrylic Colours Pearl Metallic - Silver 351. Leave it to dry.
STEP 12 : Decorating the mirror frame
Enhance the frame aesthetically by sticking plastic beads, shells, half cut pearls, readymade rose laces, solawood, small fanfolds with doileys and flower lace on it using Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.
STEP 13 : Assembling the mirror frames with mirrors
Fix the mirrors from the rear side of the frames. Your mixed media mirrors are ready.
