A DIY that has so many techniques to imbibe, texturing, how to use POP in your projects etc. All in a all a fun project that can be adapted into varied other projects for the future.

STEP 1 : Source the base

This DIY is a mixed media project; it is going to be built & developed on plywood. Take a plywood of 8”x12” in size.

STEP 2 : Prepare the base

Paint the base with a coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – White 27. Let it dry.

STEP 3 : Drawing and tracing the concept

On an A3 paper, draw the theme decided that would be followed on the ply.

STEP 4 : Creating textures with Fabric Glue

Begin by texturing backdrop of the plywood, giving a brick effect using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 5 : Learn more texture creating techniques

Make a cone using soft plastic, fill it with a mixture of Fevicol MR and POP, outline the backdrop in swirls and circles, like you see in the image with the cone. This method makes outlining very fine and neat. Fill in the brick pattern with Fevicryl - Water Based - Glass Colours and the trees, houses with Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Dark Green 06, Light Green 12, Prussian Blue 19, Ultramarine Blue 23, White 27, Cerulean Blue 32 and Sky Blue 63.

STEP 6 : Balance the shades and hues

Balance out the colouring of the patterns with Acrylic and Glass Colours, fine tuning it to look aesthetically appealing. Make dainty filigree patterns to enhance the houses using Fevicryl 3D Outliner – White 707. Let it dry.

STEP 7 : Final touches

Create short lines (like kantha stitch embroidery) along the curves of the circular design using 3D Outliner – White 707, this will accentuate the look. Frame it to your taste and to suit your home décor. Your mixed media frame with beautiful textures is now ready to adorn one of your favourite spaces.
