Description :

A Maori inspired platter for your home décor. Made with a technique that truly sets it apart. We have used cement to create the base of the platter and then painted it in minimal shades staying true to the Maori style.

STEP 1 : Prepare the base for the platter

Place an OHP sheet on a flat base, encircle with corrugated sheet making an oblong shape.

STEP 2 : Making the cement base for the platter

Make a mixture of cement and water, it should be of a pouring consistency. Pour the mixture into the encircled space. Ensure there are no air pockets. Let it dry.

(Note: cement mixtures dry very fast so work quickly at this stage to form the base of the platter).

STEP 3 : Basic platter shape is ready

Once dried, remove the OHP from the base and the corrugated sheet around. Smoothen the platter using polish paper. Apply a layer of Fevicol MR to secure the base of the platter. Let it dry completely.

STEP 4 : Tracing the Maori design

Draw and trace a Maori design on the base of the platter using yellow carbon paper.

STEP 5 : Start painting

Begin painting the design using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – Black 02.

STEP 6

Continue painting, with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold interpersed between the black.

STEP 7

Paint with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – Crimson 04, further to highlight the design.

STEP 8 : Final creation

The platter once ready would look like this.
