Traditional Lippan art with a twist making it so attractive and pretty. We have made this as a backdrop for Ganesh Chaturthi this season with mirrors and tassels to create an ambience that looks different from any other.
Take a sheet of paper and draw a Lippan art pattern.
Take three 6” MDF coasters.
Trace the pattern on the three coasters with yellow carbon paper.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.
Take the clay and make thin elongated rope like strips, and follow the pattern on the coasters. Stick as you go along using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
Give a base of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – White 27. Let it dry.
Start sticking different shapes of mirrors in between the Lippan pattern in an aesthetic manner. Fix a metal hook on top of the coasters like you see in the image.
Take three, 8” metal rings that are bigger than the coasters.
Make tassels with white cotton thread and tie it around the metal ring in uniformity.
With the help of a metal chain attach the metal ring to the wooden coasters like it has been shown in the image above.
This is how it will look once assembled and ready with an extra thread left for hanging.
Once ready the 3 Lippan art inspired creations as backdrop would look like this.
