Description :

An attractive asana for Lord Ganesha for this Ganesh festival. Made with Fevicryl Mouldit and Acrylic Colours, this DIY is packed with ornate patterns for the special occasion.

STEP 1 : Source the base

Take a wooden framework of 12” x 12” and two pieces of plywood that are 9”x 8” one for the back rest and the other as the base. Cut the one for the back-rest with an ornate curve.

STEP 2 : Paint the base coat

Paint the bases with a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – White 27. Let it dry.

STEP 3 : Prepare the dough

Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough.

STEP 4 : Creating the ornate pattern

Make thin rope-like round strips of clay and make an intricate & delicate ornate pattern on the base of the asana. Stick using Fevicryl Fabric Glue and clay carving tools for ease.

STEP 5 : Ornate pattern for the back

Similarly, create an ornate pattern for the back-rest and stick it to the base like you see in the image. Let it dry.

STEP 6 : Assembling the asana

Take the wooden framework and place the asana such that it balances well within the framework, like you see in the image. Secure using Fevicryl Fabric Glue and bit of clay.

STEP 7 : Clay patterns on the framework

Make an ornate pattern for the wooden framework too.

STEP 8 : Painting the asana

Paint the asana using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Maroon 14, Orange 17, Deep Brilliant Purple 64, Neon Pink 018, Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Pearl Pink 303, Pearl Green 304, Fevicryl Metallic Powders Gold Powder 08, giving it a festive and bright look.

STEP 9 : Final Look

Once ready your splendid asana would look like this, ready to adorn your prayer space with all the luck!

TIP – If your Ganesha idol is light weight, you can fix metal hooks to hang it on the wall with pretty lights and other decorations.
