Hexagonal Table Runner

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Fabric Glue Premium, Fevicryl Acrylic Colour (White), Paper, Pencil, Tracing Paper, Carbon Paper, Scale, Cotton Fabric (Red, Yellow Ochre), Buckram, Cork Sheet, Scissors, Paper Cutter, Gota Patti Lace (Thin), Silver Cutdana, Black Stones

Here is an amazing DIY of a cork table runner with embellishments that has been made using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.

STEP 1 : Draw the design
  • Sketch out the design on a sheet of paper or create it digitally keeping in mind the size of your table.
  • The total length of this table runner is 60”
STEP 2 : Cutting and painting of hexagons
  • Take cork sheet and cut hexagons measuring 3” on each side.
  • Cut 16 such pieces.
  • Paint it using brush and Fevicryl Acrylic Colours white.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Fabric cutting
  • Taking reference of size from the hexagons, cut out fabric shapes that will be used to cover the hexagons partially.
STEP 4 : Placement of fabric
  • Place the cut out fabric on the hexagon by folding the sides for a neat finish.
  • Stick them using Fevicryl fabric glue premium.
  • Let it dry
STEP 5 : Various surfaces
  • Cut out fabric and place them on the hexagons as seen in the image.
  • Stick them using Fevicryl fabric glue premium.
  • Let it dry
STEP 6 : Placement of hexagons
  • Place the hexagons in the order that you see in the artwork shown in the first step.
  • Make sure the distance between each hexagon is the same
  • Draw an outline on paper as shown by leaving 2” gap from all sides.
STEP 7 : Cutting of fabric
  • Take a yellow ochre cotton fabric and translate the base design on to it.
  • Cut out the shape using fabric scissors.
  • Make sure to leave 0.5” on all sides for a good finish while sticking.
STEP 8 : Buckram
  • Take buckram and transfer the base design on to it.
  • Place it on the base fabric as shown in the image.
  • Stick them using Fevicryl fabric glue premium.
  • Let it dry
STEP 9 : Make the base
  • Make sure to fold the edges on to the buckram side for a good finish and definite shape with clear angles.
  • Turn the base around as shown and your main base is ready.
STEP 10 : Placement of hexagons
STEP 11 : Embellishment
  • Take silver cutdana , black stones and stick them on the hexagons as shown in the image.
  • Stick them using Fevicryl fabric glue premium.
  • Let it dry
STEP 12 : Gotta patti
  • Stick thin gota patti lace on the edges of the base as shown in the image.
  • Stick them using Fevicryl fabric glue premium.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 13 : Final design
  • Once the lace is stuck, this is how the table runner will look.
STEP 14 : Final look

The Hexagonal table runner is ready to be used when you are hosting guests for a dinner party or brunch at your home.
