Let us welcome Ganpati bappa with aplomb and what better is to a make a backdrop on a theme that is his favorite – modak. Read more to learn how you can make the same.

STEP 1 : Take the base
  • We are going to make the backdrop for Ganesh festival with the layered paper modak and painted canvas with composition of triangular patterns.
  • Take plain canvas measuring 16” x 16” in size.
STEP 2 : Draw and paint the pattern
  • Draw and paint the triangular pattern design with the shades of pink and violet using Acrylic Colours Black 02, Pink 18, Violet 25, White 27, Neon Orange 017, Neon Pink 018 and Pearl Metallic Gold 352.
  • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : The finished look of the canvas
  • Your painted canvas will look like this.
STEP 4 : Make the paper modak
  • We are going to make the Modak with thick card paper with 3 D layers.
  • Take thick card paper, draw and cut 5 to 7 basic shapes of the Modak out of it.
  • Fold each Modak shape in the centre, attach and stick on each folded lines together with Fevicol A+.
  • Let it dry.
  • Your 3D effect Modak will look like this.
STEP 5 : Paint the modaks
  • Paint the Modak with tinge of brown using Acrylic Colour Burnt Sienna 01 and dry strokes of Pearl Metallic Gold 352.
  • Leave it to dry.
STEP 6 : Make a few more
  • Make such 6 to 7 Modak.
  • Refer to the image.
STEP 7 : Assembly
  • Arrange and stick the Paper Modak on the canvas aesthetically with Fabric Glue.
  • Leave it to dry completely.
  • Your backdrop of Modak for Ganesh Festival is ready.
