Description :

A mundane PVC pipe with its shape so rare, can actually make wonderful artefacts and look every bit impressive. We have made a pen holder using a PVC pipe and used Mouldit to shape an elephant from it. A great way to learn how clay can be handcrafted and moulded.

STEP 1 : Source the base

Take 2 PVC pipes, like the ones seen in the image

STEP 2 : Preparing the dough

Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base and hardener, mix to form an even soft dough.

STEP 3 : Develop the shape for the elephant

Place the PVC pipe with the two hollows forming the base and one upright (vertical). Refer to the image. This would be the elephant in a sitting posture.

Take some of the dough and stuff it into the hollow spaces of the two bases. These would be the feet of the elephants. (Clay is stuffed to give weight to the holder).

STEP 4 : Moulding the dough and shaping the elephant’s body

With the help of clay tools, neatly shape two elephants, with large ears and trunk. Make eyes too. Place and stick it atop the vertical pipe using Fabric Glue.

STEP 5 : Enhance the details

With the help of clay tools, neatly shape two elephants, with large ears and trunk. Make eyes too. Place and stick it atop the vertical pipe using Fabric Glue.

STEP 6 : Final touches

Paint the elephant using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, White 27, Cerulean Blue 32, Teal Blue 68 & Neon Pink 018. Your cute pair of elephant pen holder is now ready.
