Transform a plain thali into a stunning piece of art perfect for festive occasions or as a unique home decor item. This project combines the textures of Fevicryl Mouldit with a vibrant, hand-painted design, resulting in a beautiful and personalized decorative piece that is sure to be admired.
STEP 1 : Paint the Base
- Start with a clean, plain thali. Paint the entire surface with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Black 02.
- This dark base will make your vibrant colours and clay work pop!
- Let the paint dry completely.
STEP 2 : Sketch Your Design
- Once the black paint is dry, use a pencil and tracing paper to carefully sketch your desired design in the center of the thali.
STEP 3 : Sculpt the Clay
- Take your Fevicryl Mouldit, mix the resin and hardener well to make a smooth dough.
- On a flat surface, use your clay modelling tools to create different shapes according to your design.
- Let the shapes semi-dry so they are firm but still easy to handle.
STEP 4 : Attach the Clay Shapes
- With Fevicryl Fabric Glue, carefully stick the semi-dry clay shapes onto the traced design on the thali.
- Press them down gently to ensure they are secure and let everything dry completely.
STEP 5 : Begin the paint
- Using vibrant colours like Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Teal Blue, Crimson, Turquoise Blue, Orange, White, Chrome Yellow, and Deep Brilliant Purple, begin to paint your design.
- Let it dry.
STEP 6 : Paint the Details
- Fill in the different sections, adding shading and details to make the art vibrant and dynamic.
STEP 7 : Add the finishing touches
- Once the first coat of paint is dry, apply a second coat to make the colours look fuller and opaque.
- Pay close attention to all the details, ensuring every section is perfectly finished.
STEP 8 : Final Look
- Your beautifully handcrafted and painted thali is now ready to be displayed as a festive decoration or a unique art piece.
