Description :

Give an old iron pan a stunning new life by decorating it with the intricate patterns of a traditional Kolam design. Using clay coiling to add beautiful 3D texture and a deep Indian Red paint shade, you'll create a striking piece of wall art.

STEP 1 : Procure the pan
  • Take an iron pan as the base.
  • Clean your old iron pan thoroughly.
STEP 2 : Paint the base
  •  Mix Crimson Red and a bit of Burnt Sienna to achieve a rich Indian Red shade and paint the entire pan with this colour.
  •  Let it dry completely.
  • Once dry, use a pencil and tracing paper to trace your desired Kolam design onto the center of the pan.
STEP 3 : Sculpt and Coil the Clay
  •  Thoroughly mix the Fevicryl Mouldit resin and hardener to make a smooth, even dough.
  • Take small portions of the clay and roll them out into thin, equal strands.
  • Carefully coil and shape these strands, then use Fevicryl Fabric Glue to stick them directly onto the traced design on the pan.
STEP 4 : Detail the Borders and Handle
  • Continue coiling the clay and sticking it along the borders of the pan to give it a finished, raised edge.
  • For the handle, take a length of White Cord and wrap it neatly, securing it to the handle with Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
STEP 5 : Final Look
  • Allow the clay and glue to dry and harden completely.
  • Your decorative Kolam Design Pan is now ready to display as unique wall art.
