Description :

Create a unique coconut shell container adorned with a traditional Patachitra design, perfect for holding jewelry or other small treasures.

STEP 1 : Prepare the Base
  • Begin by crafting the Patachitra border design on the coconut shell to transform it into a container or jewelry box.
  • Take two shells from the same coconut, trim the edges with a hacksaw blade, and smoothen the surface with polish paper.
STEP 2 : Paint the Base Coat
  • Apply a base coat of Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27 onto the shells and allow them to dry.
STEP 3 : Draw and Trace the Design
  • Sketch the Patachitra design borders on an A4 paper and then trace the same design onto the periphery of the shells using yellow carbon paper.
STEP 4 : Paint the design
  • Colour the design using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Light Green 12, Ultramarine Blue 23, Violet 25, White 27, Cerulean Blue 32, Sky Blue 63, and Neon Pink 018.
  • Allow it to dry completely.
STEP 5 : Prepare Dough and Make Shapes
  • Mix Fevicryl Mouldit resin base and hardener thoroughly to create dough.
  • Shape the dough into flowers inspired by the Patachitra design using clay carving tools.
  • Additionally, create a clay ring to serve as the base for the shell holder.
  • Allow the shapes to dry.
STEP 6 : Paint the Flower and Ring Base
  • Paint the flower in shades of pink and yellow, and the ring with the Patachitra design using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02, Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, White 27, and Neon Pink 018.
  • Let it dry completely.
STEP 7 : Assemble the Motif and Base Ring
  • Attach the flower to the joint of the shells and the ring as the base, using Fevicryl Fabric Glue along with four wooden beads. Allow the assembly to dry.
  • To create hinges, affix a piece of paper canvas to the inner side of the shells using Fabric Glue.
STEP 8 : Final look
  • Your coconut shell holder is now complete.
  • Use it to store jewelry or other intricate items. Enjoy your creation!
