A creative upcycled craft that transforms old CDs into a vibrant pastel Rangoli for Diwali, embellished with pearls and stones for a unique festive decoration. Perfect for those who enjoy eco-friendly art projects.

STEP 1 : Prepare the Base
  • We are going to make the rangoli using old CDs, corrugated sheets, and Mouldit.

  • Take 4 CDs and cut them as shown in the reference image.

STEP 2 : Prepare the corrugated base
  • Take a corrugated sheet and cut it with triangular edges using a paper cutter, as per the design shown in the image.

STEP 3 : Stick the CDs
  • Stick the cut CDs onto the corrugated base using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.

  • Let it dry completely.

STEP 4 : Prepare the clay and cover the CD base
  • Mix Fevicryl Mouldit resin and hardener to form an even dough.

  • Roll out the dough into a medium-thin slab using a rolling pin.

  • Cut the slab to cover the CD sections and stick them onto the CD base using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

  • Also, create small squares from the clay slab for the center of the rangoli design. Paint the base coat with Acrylic Colour White 27 and let it dry.

STEP 5 : Make the tealight holders
  • Cut 4 circles approximately 3" in diameter from the clay slab to serve as tealight holders.

  • Shape some clay into roses using clay modeling tools and attach them to the edge of the tealight holders using Fabric Glue.

  • Let it dry completely.

STEP 6 : Paint the tealight holders
  • Paint the tealight holders with Acrylic Colour White 27 and then with shades from the Pastel Acrylic Colours Kit. Let them dry.

STEP 7 : Paint the rangoli base
  • Paint the rangoli base with appropriate shades from the Pastel Acrylic Colours Kit. Let it dry completely.

STEP 8 : Enhance the rangoli
  • Enhance the rangoli design by sticking half-cut pearls and ornamental white stones onto the design using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 9 : Final look
  • Your CD Rangoli is now ready for Diwali, beautifully upcycled and adorned with pastel colours and decorative accents.
