You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02, Crimson 04, Dark Green 06, White 27, Teal Blue 68, Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Pearl Metallic Gold 352, Fevicryl 3D Outliner White 707, Fevicryl Glass Colours (Tomato Red, Crystal Green), Fevicryl Mouldit, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Round Stretched Canvas 8” Diameter, A4 white paper, Pencil, OHP Sheet, Clay Carving Tools, Rolling Pin, Paper Cutter, Comb, Colour Palette, Water Container

Indian tradition of wearing nose rings has been followed through many generations. But now we see it diminishing and the younger generation doesn’t even know how they look like, so we bring this DIY, hang it in your household as a wall décor and have them admire our tradition.

STEP 1 : Source the base material

We are going to make different traditional nose rings from India using Mouldit on round canvas. Take Round Stretched Canvas measuring 8” diameter in size.

STEP 2 : Prepare the dough

Take Fevicryl Mouldit – Resin base & hardener, mix well to form an even soft dough to make the clay motifs.

STEP 3 : Prepare the slab

Take the dough, roll it to make the medium thick slab with rolling pin.

STEP 4 : Build the nose rings

Take A4 white papers, draw 3 different types of nose rings on it. Place an OHP sheet on the drawing and start making the nose rings using the dough and build the shapes like round for pearl and tear drop shapes for the jewels using clay carving tools and paste them on the canvas using Fabric Glue. Let it dry.

STEP 5 : Paint the base coat

Paint the base coat using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour White 27. Let it dry.

STEP 6 : Paint the elements

Paint the nose rings by depicting the gold, pearl and the jewels on the ring using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Black 02, Crimson 04, Dark Green 06, Pearl Metallic Gold 352, Fevicryl Glass Colours Tomato Red and Crystal Green. Let it dry.

STEP 7 : Create texture on the canvas

We are going to create the comb texture on the canvas using Fevicryl 3D Outliner White 707 by adding Acrylic Colour Teal Blue 68. Let it dry.

STEP 8 : Finishing

Take some clay to make the coils out of it. Stick the coil on the periphery of the canvas using Fabric Glue. Let it dry. Paint the coil with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour Pearl Metallic Gold 352. Let it dry.

STEP 9 : Final Look

Your round canvas with different types of nose rings is ready.
