Women of the Baiga tribe of Madhya Pradesh are known for their art of tattooing or 'Godna'. This practice has been an integral part of the Baiga culture for the women of the tribe. This art form instils a sense of pride among the women, we have tried of representing the same on this table runner.
We are going to make a table runner with painted fabric patches in traditional motifs inspired from Baiga tribe of Madhya Pradesh. Take an A3 white paper, draw three animals on it. Take fabric patches in pastel shades of green and yellow measuring 6” x 8” in size.
Trace the same design on the patches with black carbon paper.
Paint the design using Fabric Colours - Burnt Sienna 201, Black 202, Chrome Yellow 203, Crimson 204, Prussian Blue 219, Sap Green 221, Yellow Ochre 226 and White 227, let it dry.
Take a thick black fabric. Mark and cut the fabric measuring 22” x 9” in size. Take the yellow fabric piece, mark and cut two triangles in the same height as that of the square patch. Stick the patches on the black fabric using Fevicryl Fabric Glue along with two small triangles with a painted tree design. Let it dry. Stitch the black fabric piping along the side of the painted patches.
Attach the ready tassels towards the end of the table runner with needle and the thread.
