12 Days Of Ornament: 3 French Hens

You Will Need:

Fevicryl Premium Fabric Glue, Paper, Pencil, Carbon Paper (White And Yellow), Scissors, Cotton Fabric (Dark Pink, Blue, Yellow), Felt Material (Yellow, Dark Blue, Sky Blue, Green, Red), Cotton Cord/Jute Cord, Googly Eyes, Sequin (Blue And Yellow), Cut dana (Golden, Green, Big Blue, Small Blue, Big Red, Small Red, Sky Blue), Stones (Blue, Light Red), Poth (Yellow, Green, Sky Blue)

Here is a super cool Christmas DIY for you! French Hens ornament that can be hung on the Christmas tree and made in a jiffy using Fevicryl fabric Glue. Read more to learn how we made this.

STEP 1 : Make a sketch
  • Draw a French hen as seen in the image above measuring 12cm.
  • Draw it on a tracing paper.
STEP 2 : Source felt sheets
  • Take 5 different colours of felt sheets as seen in the image.
STEP 3 : Source cotton fabric
  • Take 3 different colours of cotton fabric as seen in the image.
STEP 4 : Tracing and cutting
  • Trace the main body part (front, back) of the French hen on to the cotton fabric as seen in the image
  • Transfer the design on to the fabric with the help of carbon paper and pencil.
  • Cut them using fabric scissors.
STEP 5 : Sticking and cutting
  • Stick all the three pieces on top of each other as seen in the image.
  • Mark the body shape as seen in the image using a blunt edge (back of a pen)
  • Cut the edges as shown as it will help in sticking according to the shape
  • Cut them using fabric scissors.
  • Stick them using Fabric Glue.
STEP 6 : Tracing and cutting
  • Trace the beak, back feathers, top feathers, thigh of the French hen on to the felt sheets
  • Transfer the design on to the fabric with the help of carbon paper and pencil.
  • Cut them using fabric scissors.
STEP 7 : Assembly
  • Stick the tail feathers, top feathers, thigh, beak on to one side of the French hen as shown in the image given
  • Stick using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
  • Let it dry
STEP 8 : Cutting the wings
  • Trace the wings on green felt sheet and cut them as shown in the image.
  • Cut them using fabric scissors.
STEP 9 : Sticking and stuffing
  • Stuff the French hen with cotton and stick both the sides to complete the body of the hen
  • Stick the wings as shown in the image
  • Stick using Fevicryl Fabric Glue
  • Let it dry
STEP 10 : Assemble the sticking material
  • Take various materials mentioned in the list.
STEP 11 : Sticking of embellishments
  • Stick the embellishments on the wings and face as shown in the image given
  • Use Fevicryl Fabric Glue to stick them
  • Let it dry
STEP 12 : Finshing
  • Stick the embellishments on the top feather, tail feather and body as shown in the image given
  • Stick googly eye on the face as shown
  • Use Fevicryl Fabric Glue to stick them
  • Let it dry
