Description :

Lion, an animal that translates to power and strength, is what we have used to decorate our urn. We have used Mouldit and made cutouts of lions and placed them along the sides of the urn. Handcrafted a beautiful, majestic lion to be placed atop the urn. Painted with metallic and rustic shades, makes it look BEAUTIFUL.

STEP 1 : Source the base material

Take a plain prewashed terracotta pot.
We are going to make an antique Chinese vessel with motifs made with Fevicryl Mouldit, giving it an antique metallic look.
Take Mouldit - resin base and hardener, mix it thoroughly to form an even dough.

STEP 2 : Clay slab technique

Roll it to make a thick slab with a rolling pin.
Let the slab semi dry.

STEP 3 : Draw the design

Draw and cut a few animal motifs from the slab, like a horse, goat, monkey, an eagle, dog, pig and a dragon.
Create textures on their bodies with clay carving tools.

STEP 4 : Take the pot

Take a plain prewashed terracotta pot.

STEP 5 : Make the details

Mark and cut dragon and lion motifs from the slab.
Take some clay to make the finer details using clay carving tools and stick them using Fabric Glue on the sides of the pot.
Take some clay to make Chinese letters.
Stick the motifs, the lion on the top side of the lid, the dragon motifs, the letters appropriately on the pot with Fabric Glue.
Let it dry.
Take some clay to make the legs for pot.
Stick the legs stand below the pot with Fabric Glue. Leave it to dry.

STEP 6 : Final touches & look

Take some clay and make the handles for the pot. Stick the handles neatly on the pot with Fabric Glue. Let it dry.
Paint the pot with an antique metallic look using Acrylic Colours - Black 02 and Pearl Metallic - Gold 352.
Let it dry.
