Description :

Traditional Kutch bharat influenced wall hanging is what this DIY is. A unique technique to create a base is what you can learn in this project. Painted beautifully using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours makes it an art piece par excellence.

STEP 1 : Source the base

Take jute fabric, this will be the base of your wall hanging.

STEP 2 : Texturing with cement

Make a mixture of cement and water, and pour it evenly on the surface of the jute fabric. Once solidified it will be hard and firm making it a suitable base to paint on.

STEP 3 : Drawing & tracing the Kutch bharat design

Draw and trace a Kutchi bharat design on the cement base. Choose a design with a horse motif along with borders. Begin painting using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Chrome Yellow 03, Crimson 04, Orange 17, Prussian Blue 19, White 27 and Leaf Green 62. Let it dry.

STEP 4 : Start outlining the composition

Start outlining the design with Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – White 27, in short dotted lines, replicating the Kutchi bharat style of embroidery. Let it dry.

STEP 5 : Developing the composition

Take a jute fabric that is larger in size as compared to the composition made. Centre and stick the Kutch bharat base onto it using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Make short beaded strands comprising of conches, pom-poms & colourful readymade tassels, stick these in a line towards the base of the composition. Let it dry.

STEP 6 : Painting the jute border

Paint the jute border with traditional motifs using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Chrome Yellow 03 and Orange 17. Here too, add dotted lines with White 27 for continuity of design. Decorate the design with assorted mirrors interspersed using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.

STEP 7 : Final touches & look

Make a loop with the green woolen thread and stick it on the top of the composition. Pass a long wooden stick through it making it a wall hanging. Your beautiful traditional Kutchi bharat wall hanging is now ready to give your home a touch of ethnicity and chic.
