You Will Need:

Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Crimson 04, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17, White 27, Cerulean Blue 32, Fevicryl 3D Outliner Glitter Gold 401, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Card Board Rolls, Pencil, Colour palette, Water container

Here is just the inspiration you were looking for to decorate the makhar of Ganpati Bappa. Made with cardboard rolls this DIY is indeed the best and most creative use of material lying around us.

STEP 1 : Source the rolls
• To make totem pole sticks for the backdrop for Ganesh Idol, take big cardboard rolls.
STEP 2 : Painting a base coat
• Mark and cut the rolls with a hacksaw blade; two rolls of 14”, two rolls of 18”, two rolls of 20” and one roll of 24” in size approximately. We have taken 7 rolls. • Refer to the main image. • Paint the rolls with the base coat of Acrylic Colour White 27. • Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Painting the pattern
• Draw few geometrical patterns, wavy lines and mosaic patterns to depict the tribal designs from the totem poles on the rolls. • Paint the design with Acrylic Colours Crimson 04, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17 and Cerulean Blue 32. • Let it dry completely.
STEP 4 : Enhancing the design
• Enhance the design with 3D Outliner Glitter Gold 401. • Let it dry.
STEP 5 : Making the base and assembly
• Take a canvas board measuring 16” x 20” in size to make the base for totem poles. • Draw and paint a similar geometrical design on it with Acrylic Colours Crimson 04, Lemon Yellow 11, Orange 17, Cerulean Blue 32 and3 D Outliner Glitter Gold 401. • Let it dry completely. • Stick the painted card board roll totem poles on the base in a semi-circle form using Fabric Glue. Let it dry. • Your totem pole backdrop is ready.
