You Will Need:
Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Orange 17, White 27, Neon Pink 018, Fevicryl Fabric Glue, Fine Art Brushes, Half A Meter Poplin Fabric, A3 White Paper, Black Carbon Paper, Pencil, Used Oil Can, Scissors, Colour Palette, Water Container
Description :
Reuse an oil can by decorating and painting it in traditional artforms like kalamkari and ikat. Giving it a look which is so satisfying and gratifying.
STEP 1 : Source the base material
- Take a plain prewashed oil can. Mark and cut the can and use it as the base of the can.
- We are going to make a magazine holder using a recycled oil can, painted with an Ikat border and Kalamkari pattern.
STEP 2 : Stick the paper canvas
- Take a paper canvas and cover the can by sticking it on the can using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
- Let it dry.
STEP 3 : Draw and trace the design
- Take an A3 white paper, draw a Kalamkari floral design on it.
- Take a white poplin fabric in the size of the periphery of the can.
- Trace the same design on the fabric with black carbon paper in a light manner.
STEP 4 : Paint the design
- Paint the fabric with Acrylic Colours - Black 02, Orange 17, White 27 and Neon Pink 018.
- Let it dry.
STEP 5 : Paint the design
- Similarly, paint the Ikat design on another fabric with Acrylic Colours - Black 02, White 27 and Neon Pink 018.
- Let it dry.
- Cover the can with the painted fabric using Fabric Glue for sticking.
STEP 6 : Final Look
- Your magazine holder with a beautiful Kalamkari and Ikat pattern is now ready.
