A lovely DIY that of evil eyes as décor art pieces for your desk or home spaces. Made with basic materials such as CDs and toothpicks, it’s an easy DIY that looks stunning once completed. A great activity for kids to do in groups, that would teach them hand moulding, how to outline with 3D’s and use glass colours.
We are making evil eye home décor accents using old CDs, Fevicryl 3D Outliners and Glass Colours. It will be a set of three, so take six CDs (for both the front and back parts).
Let's begin with the first one. Cut the CD in the shape of an eye, as seen in the image. Do so using a paper cutter, carefully and accurately.
Outline the eye using Fevicryl 3D Outliner Pearl Metallic – Gold 352. The border, few within and the eye ball. Let it dry.
Similarly, begin and repeat the process for the other two CD’s too. Create different patterns within the eyes and paint using Fevicryl water-based Glass Colours - Sea Blue, Ultramarine Blue. Black and White. Let it dry completely.
For the backing of the three evil eyes, cut out three replica shapes, and stick them on the rear side using Fevicryl Fabric Glue. Secure surely and firmly, let it dry.
From the rear side stick toothpicks using Fabric Glue to make the eye lashes.
Once the entire eye is stuck with toothpicks (eye lashes) it would look like this, refer to the image.
Take a barbecue stick and stick it from the rear side, giving it support. This would be used to embed on a clay block for it to stand as a décor piece.
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to make an even soft dough. Shape it with your hands to make a dice shape, it should be in accordance to the evil eye size, not too big nor small.
Pierce the barbeque stick into the shaped dough, firmly with a perfect balance.
Repeat this process for the other two evil eyes. Once ready they would look like this.
