Making the most of things that we usually and unmindfully throw away. Coconut shells are substrates that can spin magic. It is a very useful base to make numerous articles. Here is one that is rather inspiring. Decorated cups made with empty coconut shells painted beautifully using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours.
Take two coconut shells that have been cleaned, and their outer surfaces smoothened
Take Fevicryl Mouldit – resin base & hardener, mix well to make an even and soft dough.
Shape and mould the clay, to make a holder / stand for the cups to be held in. Use clay carving tools for ease.
Place and stick the stand on the outer surface of the coconut shell, using Fevicryl Fabric Glue.
Paint the stand using Fevicryl Acrylic Colours - Burnt Sienna 01 and Dark Brown 05, to give a wood finish. Let it dry. Paint the coconut shell using Fevicryl Acrylic Colour – White 27. Draw a pattern on the surface using a pencil.
